Lampert Vera (*1944) neve fogalommá vált a zenetudományban, főként a Bartók zenéjének népzenei háttere iránt érdeklődők számára. Az Amerikában élő magyar zenetörténész - a budapesti Bartók Archívum munkatársa (1969-1978) és a bostoni Brandeis Egyetem zenei könyvtárosa (1983-2014) - legnagyobb hatású munkája a Bartók műveiben fellelhető népi dallamok jegyzéke. Épp ily fontosak nagyszabású közreadói munkái: Bartók népzenei írásainak két kötete, illetve a Bartók-művek kritikai összkiadásában való részvétele. Emellett nagyszámú hiánypótló, emlékezetes tanulmány fűződik a nevéhez. A jelen tanulmánykötet Lampert Vera kutatási területeihez és zenetörténeti érdeklődéséhez kapcsolódó írásokat tartalmaz, vezető szaktekintélyek és fiatalabb kutatók tollából. A vegyes nyelvű, magyar illetve angol írásokat egybegyűjtő kötet tizenhét tanulmánya három fejezetbe rendeződik: zenetörténeti, majd népzenetudományi munkák után a kötet súlyponti része a Bartók-kutatáshoz kapcsolódik. A kötet, mely az Ünnepelt tudományos munkásságának jegyzékét is tartalmazza, zenetörténeti és notációs kérdéseket, előadástörténetet, népzene és műzene viszonyát vizsgáló, mű- és stíluselemzésre, valamint forráskutatásra támaszkodó tanulmányokat foglal magába. Vera Lampert's (*1944) name has become a concept in musicology, primarily for those interested in the folk music background of Bartók's music. The source catalog of Bartók's folk song arrangements is the most influential work of the Hungarian musicologist who has been living in the United States - once member of the Budapest Bartók Archives (1969-1978), than music librarian at Brandeis University in Boston (1983- 2014). Equally important are her large-scale editorial works, two volumes of Bartók writings on folk music, and her participation in the critical edition of Bartók's compositions. She has also contributed a great number of basic and memorable articles. This volume contains essays related to Vera Lampert's research and interest in music history, contributions from leading authorities and younger scholars. The seventeen essays in this linguistically mixed collection of Hungarian or English writings are organized in three chapters: the history of music, ethnomusicology, and - the richest section - Bartók research. Completed with a list of Vera Lampert's scholarly works, the volume presents studies on questions related to music history, notation, performance history, the relation between folk music and art music, analyses of works and style, and source studies.
